Achieve a Perfect Smile with Veneers
Veneers are thin, tooth-shaped porcelain shells used to cover dental imperfections and help you attain a picture-perfect smile. They’re custom-made to match your exact needs and are easily bonded onto the front of your tooth’s surface.
How Long Will My Veneers Last?
Here at our Santa Cruz dental office, your porcelain veneers are made of durable material and can last 10 to 20 years with good maintenance. As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and will need replacement someday, but they can never be completely removed.
What Do Porcelain Veneers Treat?
Porcelain veneers can completely reshape your teeth and enhance your smile. Dr. Smith will often suggest them as an alternative to crowns to treat many dental flaws, such as:
- Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile.
- Crooked teeth.
- Misshapen teeth.
- Severely discolored or stained teeth.
- Teeth that are too small or large.
- Unwanted or uneven spaces.
- Worn or chipped teeth.
What Does the Veneers Treatment Involve?
Getting porcelain veneers usually requires two visits to complete the process, with little or no anesthesia required during the procedure. First, your teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the proper fit of the veneer. Dr. Smith will take a mold or impression of your teeth and choose the perfect shade to meet your expectations.
On the second visit, your teeth will be cleaned and coated with a durable bonding material. This is placed between your tooth’s surface and veneer, then we’ll use a special light to harden and set the bond.
After your veneers are successfully placed and finished, our team will provide you with proper after-care instructions. Proper brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new veneers.
Lumineers®: An Advancement to Veneers
Lumineers® don’t require the removal of tooth structure.
Lumineers by Cerinate offer a terrific cosmetic treatment for permanently stained, chipped, discolored, misaligned teeth, or even to revitalize old crown and bridgework. Lumineers are porcelain veneers that can be made as thin as a contact lens and are placed over existing teeth without requiring painful removal of sensitive tooth structure.
Lumineers can only be made from patented Cerinate porcelain. This revolutionary porcelain is crafted through a proprietary process unavailable anywhere other than the Cerinate Smile Design Studios owned by Den-Mat Corporation. In just two or three visits to the dentist, Lumineers provides a custom-made smile clinically proven to last up to 20 years.
Are Lumineers Better Than Traditional Veneers?
Lumineers offer a painless, non-invasive alternative to veneers because they don’t require the removal of your tooth structure. Here at our Santa Cruz dental office, Dr. Smith applies these contact lens-thin “smile shapers” to teeth without any grinding or shaving, transforming worn teeth into a naturally beautiful smile that looks perfect for every individual.
Lumineers can even be placed on porcelain bridgework and crowns with the new Revitalize Kit available from Dr. Smith. Lumineers veneers are the best of both worlds – ultra-thin, yet super strong for a radiant smile that resists any cracking, which can damage restorations. Plus, Lumineers are reversible if needed.
How are Lumineers Placed?
At your dental visit, Dr. Smith will try your Lumineers to ensure a good fit. Your teeth will be moderately etched to prepare for placement but there’s no removal of sensitive tooth structure. Your Lumineers are bonded to your natural teeth and set in place with a curing light.
In only two easy dental visits, you’ll have a permanently whiter and beautiful smile without needing to undergo an invasive procedure.
Can Anyone get Lumineers?
Generally, yes! Dr. Smith can examine your teeth and decide whether Lumineers are best for you. In some cases, orthodontics may be necessary to improve the success of Lumineers. If you don’t need to have orthodontic treatment, then you can expect Lumineers to virtually reshape and whiten your teeth, making them look straighter and brighter.
